• World #1 Iga Swiatek defeated #2 Aryna Sabalenka to win the Italian Open and claim the “Dirt Double” after previously winning in Madrid. She is the first woman to win the two clay tournaments back-to-back since Serena in ‘13.
• The Reds’ Elly de la Cruz went 4-4 with 4 steals, 3 runs scored, and a walk in Cincinnati’s 7-2 win over the Dodgers on Thursday. He is the 6th player since 1901 with 30+ SB in his team’s first 44 games. The last to do so was Kenny Lofton in ‘96.
• After Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s night was done early by a seemingly retaliatory wreck from Kyle Busch, Stenhouse confronts Busch and a skirmish ensued after NASCAR’s All-Star race.
• Juan Soto hit 2 home-runs and Luis Gil struck out 14 batters as the Yankees won their 6th straight game Saturday. Gil’s 14 Ks are a Yankees’ rookie record. The record was previously held by Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez who threw out the first pitch that day.
